Effects of LPS injection on the hypothalamic and testicular mRNA expression levels of reproductive factors in male rats.

چکیده
OBJECTIVES In the hypothalamus, kisspeptin and RFamide-related peptide (RFRP) regulate gonadotropin-releasing hormone expression. Kisspeptin and RFRP are also found in the testes and might play roles in steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis. DESIGN AND RESULTS The present study demonstrated that the hypothalamic mRNA expression level of the kisspeptin receptor was decreased by the injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (500 μg/kg) in male rats, and it was suggested that such changes might contribute to reductions in serum luteinizing hormone levels. Contrary to our expectations, hypothalamic RFRP and testicular GPR147 (the RFRP receptor) mRNA expression were also decreased by LPS injection. CONCLUSIONS We speculate that changes in hypothalamic RFRP expression might represent a protective response aimed at attenuating LPS-induced anorectic responses.

Orexin Decreases Aromatase Gene Expression in The Hypothalamus of Androgenized Female Rats
Objective Orexin is a hypothalamic orexigenic neuropeptide, which third cerebral injection of it mainly exerts inhibitory effects on reproductive functions. It increases significantly the Aromatase (Cyp19) gene expression in the hypothalamus of male rats. Aromatase is an enzyme which converts androgens to estradiol in the hypothalamus of rats. Prenatal or neonatal exposure of females to testost...
متن کاملMorphine and kisspeptin influences on 5-α reductase and aromatase gene expression in adult male rats
Objective(s): Kisspeptin and opioids are important factors for controlling GnRH/LH secretion. In present study, influences of kisspeptin or morphine were investigated on 5α- reductase or aromatase (CYP19) genes expression in the hypothalamus, testis and liver. It aimed to investigate whether kisspeptin pathway may control morphine effects on plasma concentration of tes...
متن کاملThe effect of intracerebroventricular administration of neuropeptide Y on reproductive axis function in the male Wistar rats: Involvement of hypothalamic KiSS1/GPR54 system
Several studies have shown that neuropeptide Y (NPY) is considered to be one of the key regulators of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in the mammals. Also, kisspeptin is a powerful upstream regulator of gonadotropin-releasing hormone neurons in the hypothalamus. The present study aims to investigate the effects of the intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of NPY and BIBP3226 (NPY rece...
متن کاملP-21: RF-Amide Related Peptide mRNA Expression in Male Rat Dorsomedial Hypothalamic Nucleus during Chronic Stress
Background Chronic stress induces male reproductive dysfunction; however, the involved mechanisms are not clear. It has been suggested that the gonadotrophin-inhibitory hormone, known as RF-amide related peptide (RFRP) in mammalian species, may mediate this inhibitory effect of stress. The objective of the present study was to compare the effect of chronic stress and glucocorticoids receptor an...
متن کاملHypothalamic KiSS1/GPR54 Gene Expressions and Luteinizing Hormone Plasma Secretion in Morphine Treated Male Rats
Objective The inhibitory effects of Morphine and the stimulatory influence of kisspeptin signaling have been demonstrated on GnRH/LH release. Hypothalamic kisspeptin is involved in relaying the environmental and metabolic information to reproductive axis. In the present study the role of kisspeptin/GPR54 signaling system was investigated on relaying the inhibitory effects of morphine on LH horm...
